They should begin scheduling several enjoyable activities every week. This will help recovered persons to enjoy sobriety more improve their self-esteem and confidence and reduce the chances of relapse. On the other hand if they stay in isolation and boredom then there are high probabilities of them getting vulnerable to indulge in substance abuse again.

Another rule of Substance abuse management is that recovered individuals should minimize stress as much as possible as well as take very good care of themselves. In the past when they were abusing drugs or alcohol they probably neglected their emotional and physical health. This is the reason that during the treatment process addicts are informed about the importance of good self-care for preventing relapse as it is harder to avoid temptation when they are hungry stressed and tired. Thus it is vital that recovered persons develop a regular sleep routine exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet all of which will help them to get strong to handle challenges of life without relapsing.
